District Elder Charles Smith

I want to give God thanks for all of the things that He has blessed me to do for His honor and His glory. As the new pastor of Zion Temple First Pentecostal Church, I look forward to what God will do with my life now. District Elder Charles Smith was born in 1937 in Wheeling, West Virginia. He lived in Smithfield, Ohio until 1983 when he moved to Marion, Ohio. District Elder Charles Smith married Evangelist Mildred Smith in 1956; to this union were born five children and eleven grandchildren.

He worked for the Pittsburgh Steel Company in Steubenville, Ohio for thirty years.

District Elder Smith was baptized in Jesus' name and filled with the Holy Ghost in April, 1955 at the Shiloh Temple Church in Martin's Ferry, Ohio under the pastorate of the late Floyd E. Pitts Sr. He was called to the ministry in 1969 at Shiloh Temple Church and served as Assistant Pastor for six years. He then moved to Bethlehem Apostolic Temple where he served as Assistant Pastor for eight years.

God called District Elder Smith to serve as pastor at King Temple Apostolic Church in Marion, Ohio for twenty-one years. He currently serves as Pastor at Zion Temple First Pentecostal Church in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Dist Elder Smith is an ordaned minister of The Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Inc. He was ordained at the July Council in 1973 by Bishop Francis Smith. He was made a District Elder in 1995 by Bishop Francis Smith and serves as District Elder over the ODC # 5 which includes the Southwestern part of Ohio. District Elder Smith currently serves as the Treasurer for the Ohio District Council. He also has a seat on the Board of Directors for the ODC and has served in that position for nine years. He has served on the ODC Nursing Home Board for three years. He is the chairman of the ODC Budget and Finance Committee and has served as a member for five years.

District Elder Smith's past accomplishments include:

  • Assistant Treasurer for the Ohio District Council for eight years.
  • Marion County Ministerial Association President for two years.
  • Community Liason Committee for MCI and NCCI Prisons for nine years.
  • State Corrections Advisory Board for three years.
  • Televised sermons on "The Present Help Telecast" for twenty-one years.
  • Help plan and implement "The Community Easter Sunrise Service and Martin Luther King" celebrations each year.
